Brutal Murder of Innocence

The rape of a 6 year old in a high end Bangalore school shocked the entire nation and awakened the people to stand up and fight for justice. But, I believe that it is a waste of time and money to have court hearing for the undeserving criminals and they should be simply hanged or shot in public. This will send out a strong message as if Rape is a heinous act Child Rape is even worse since in this case the victim is so young , innocent and not even aware of what is happening.BRUTAL MURDER OF INNOCENCE

All of us know that this is not an isolated incident and every other day newspapers report horrifying incidents of

  • 8 month old baby being raped by a 28 year old guy.
  • 3 year old while play outside sexually abused by neighbor.
  • 5 year old raped by uncle during family function.
  • 8 year old gang raped by auto driver and his friends.
  • 9 year old raped by caretaker in a SPECIAL SCHOOL.
  • 13 year old molested and raped by tuition master.

The disturbing fact is that these crimes occur in every section of society be it educated, uneducated, rich or poor.

We Indians love to boast about our rich culture to the world a culture where women are respected and children are considered divine. But, today we should be ashamed that so much decadence has crept in our society and the only culture prevalent is RAPE CULTURE where even little children are not spared.

It would be an insult to animals if we call these perpetrators of crime so; as even animals show compassion and care towards their young ones. These perpetrators are simply vile sexual predators who seek pleasure by resorting to such perverse and brutal behavior towards young innocent children.

Can society as usual point fingers at these victims? Impossible!!  These little ones who are neither physically nor mentally mature are forced to carry an indelible scar throughout their growing up years for absolutely no fault of theirs. Some of them are too young to even know what has happenened to them but for the adolescents it has a deep psychological and physical impact. Before they can fully mature and be aware of their body they are abused, tortured and robbed of their innocence.

Today due to increasing number of alarming child rape cases our children have lost the freedom to enjoy their childhood in a carefree manner. The nature of a child is to be friendly but sadly they always need to be cautioned about people around them and before they even learn how to read and write they are taught about good touches and bad touches. Our children cease to be trustingly innocent and become aware of a lot of things beyond their age.

  • Are we being fair to our children?
  • Don’t they deserve their innocent fun filled childhood?
  • Don’t they deserve a safe environment to grow in?

Children are the future of this country. It is definitely each and everyone’s responsibility starting from home, school and society to provide a safe environment for them to grow and enjoy their childhood. Let us see to it that these tender buds are not crushed before they bloom naturally.

Today people are more aware of crimes against children are even coming forward to report and seek justice. But, has this put an end to this problem? No, the number of cases only seem to be increasing every day. Quick justice by meting out harsh punishments will definitely instill a fear factor but the need of the hour is to bring about a moral revolution to curb this BRUTAL MURDER OF INNOCENCE.

Well said Mira. There’s a saying which I hope you must have heard or read about: Sau Sunaar Ki aur Ek Lohaar Ki. (100 strikes by a Gold Smith and one strike by an Iron Smith). In other words there harsh punishment for kindergarten students if they fail to observe discipline or miss their homework etc. They fear to go to school without doing the homework. However, heinous crimes go unpunished. The court cases drag for years and nothing happens to the criminals. The only solution is to punish such offenders with death penalty given within a maximum of 3-6 months. There seems to be no other solution for these crimes.

The crime is definitely not equal to the punishment being dished out. A verdict within 3-6 months would be marvelous but for our country this to happen is still going to take some time.

    A sick mindset. Really disheartening.
The laws should more strict for these kind of offenders.
    Well brought out points.

A lot of our readers have asked us why do we keep writing on this heart wrenching issue. The only answer we have is to create awareness. Your point on the law is exactly what we are working on now. Thank you for your support Indrani.
