Specially Abled – WHO?
So darlings I’m back or let’s say back with a bang coz whatever I am gonna say today is sure to make your brains explode with all sorts of thoughts. Don’t worry though, I am here only and will help you in doing the damage control after explosion.
As you all have been reading about specially abled people and the hardships they face I would like to take it a bit further. Being a girl is as it is difficult for us as we have to go through all sorts of harassment both at home and work. People try to touch you, rob you, rape you and ultimately kill you if you don’t give in to their demands.
Let’s talk about a girl who is highly educated and works in a reputed organization. One day she is called by the boss into his cabin and during the conversation, he tries to put his hand over hers. And as expected she moves her hand away before he can touch her, that’s a reflex action we don’t need to even think of. Now in reality that girl is specially abled with no vision at all. What will happen now? She can’t see the hand coming or the lust in his eyes and he manages to hold her hand or worse touches her here and there. To top it all this is a REAL LIFE incident and I am witness to her plight. So tell me who is specially abled and needs treatment – she or him? She is smart, intelligent and hardworking and he is someone who believes in taking advantage of a weak point she has.
This is just one of the many incidences that happened and the boss in question was given enough warnings by her, her supporters and his seniors all. But some people really have a thick skull. He became vindictive and ultimately a strict action had to be taken against him.
All is well that ends well but do tell me if this is something that should have happened in the first place? Was not all this an unnecessary hassle for someone who is already coping with life without one of the senses which we take for granted, and even stepping into a dark room at night makes us fumble to find the light switch first thing. And God forbid if there is a power cut at night, candle is the first thing we arrange.
Why is it that a specially abled girl is seen as an easy target rather than a person with courage and conviction?
