Why Are Romantic Novels And Movies Such A Big Hit?
I had a love marriage and have been looked as if I am some outcast. Most people have come and asked me such weird questions as to why I went ahead and did this and caused so much troubles and pains for my parents. A lot of people ask my husband why he didn’t think about his religion when he got married to me. I really don’t understand why do people get married? Isn’t it to have a happy married life, have kids and live life together and that too to the fullest? Well, I am married, it’s been ten years, we are happy, have two kids, work together, chill together and our families have accepted us and we get along with them on both the sides.
Which brings me back to today’s issue, why is it that 99% people in India have a problem with love? Just look at the movies we watch and the novels we read. Will someone please tell me why we have songs and dances in our movies? Most of these songs are between the lead couple and what they show is love. Why is Shah Rukh Khan the king of Bollywood? His movie Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge is the movie which has run the longest term. It is a hard core romantic movie, guy who comes from abroad after his lady love and wins over the entire girls’ family.
Take all the bestselling novels. Chetan Bhagat’s Two States has been such a hit with all the book lovers that now it’s going to be made into a movie. What is it about, North Indian boy, South Indian girl; fall in love and then convince each other’s families.
Does it mean that all of us who say we are against love and that it is wrong actually are romantics deep under? Or can I say that we are basically cowards and can’t own up and say that we like the idea of being in love? Please tell me if there is guy who wouldn’t want to walk hand in hand with the lady of his life? Is there any girl who doesn’t want her man to get down on his knees and propose to her or whisper sweet nothings to her?
Love is there within all of us. We all want more of it. We all want to share it with our loved ones. We all want to bring out the romantic in us. Just stop feeling shy, love is a part of you and there is absolutely nothing wrong in falling in love or being in love. Trust me it’s a beautiful feeling……….
