A Walk By The Sea

A WALK BY THE SEAAll of us have a fantasy date in mind, right? Especially when we were teenagers growing up on a healthy dose of romance novels and romantic films. Well, this was my dream date when I was a teenager. Enjoy.

Me standing in the driveway in the evening twilight, a soft breeze billowing my shoulder-length dark hair away from my face. And I’m dressed in a pale pink satin dress trimmed with lace and falling just below the knees. The breeze is causing the dress to ripple artfully around my legs. I’m waiting, watching, eager. Waiting for the man of my dreams, my Prince Charming. The anticipation is making my heart flutter. Would he come? He said he would!

Finally, a white stretch limo sweeps into my driveway. And there he is, the man I have been waiting for. Tall, so tall that I have to stand on tiptoe to kiss his cheek. Wheatish brown skin, sharp nose, wide-set chocolate-brown eyes, high cheekbones and a soft smile on his sensual mouth and a perfectly, lean, muscular body. Looks that any girl would die for. And he is all mine. Mmmmmm.

He helps me into the limo, then we drive off. He doesn’t tell me where we’re going, says it’s a surprise. After driving for an hour, we reach our destination. The chauffeur opens the door for us. I climb out and look around me, stunned. We’re at a hillside resort overlooking a rocky beach. Individual cottages are scattered all over the premises. We head to ours and lounge on the patio with tall glasses of fresh fruit juice and hot banana chips straight from the pan.

He finishes his juice and stands up. The moonlight highlights the twinkle in his eyes. He holds out his hand and I take it. He pulls me out of the lounge chair and we walk down the slope in the path leading down to the rocky shore below. We go as close to the shore as we can and watch as the waves crash upon the rocks. We’re holding hands the entire time. Occasionally, we’re hit by a salty spray. This, combined with the cool sea breeze, is making me shiver. He lets go of my hand and puts his arm around me, pulling me closer. We stand there, just the two of us, alone in the moonlight, a vast, empty sea before us. We turn around to face each other. And I know he can feel the magic of the moment too. It’s there, in his soft brown eyes, as he looks down into mine. And in this one magical moment, I know that we would be together forever.

That dear Athenas, was my fantasy date during my teenage years.

I can identify with this dream. Young love! I think almost everyone of us must have had these dreams when the knight in shining armour sweeps us off our feet. As reality checks in, the knights are there only the armours are different now. If we remove the rose tinted glasses we will find them!
    A lovely read.
